Single This Valentine’s Day? Here’s How To Have The Best Solo Self-Care Night In

It’s Valentine’s Day once again, and this year, you’re single. And while all the tropes would suggest that every single will spend the night wallowing, eating ice cream, and heartbreaking love stories, you’re determined to have a good night, all on your own.

You don’t want to distract yourself by going out, but you also want to have a night in that’s nice—you want to treat yourself the way you’d hope a significant other might. You want to have a self-care night all by yourself where you actually enjoy every minute.

Here’s how you can have the best self-care night in this Valentine’s Day.

01 | Get off Instagram.

And just social media in general. Don’t spend the evening swiping through stories and reading every taken person’s lovey-dovey post. Skip the socials altogether in order to focus on your self-care night.

02 | Make yourself a nice dinner.

Have a little extra fun; make yourself a fancier dinner than you usually would, and try a new recipe. Get some brie cheese or make a creamy risotto or pan-sear some salmon.

03 | Watch something old or new.

Whether you watch an old classic that you’ll never have seen too many times, or you decide to try out a new movie that looks promising, dim the lights down low and enjoy a proper movie night.

04 | Don’t skip dessert.

You have to enjoy something sweet, something decadent and lovely after dinner, don’t you? Maybe you’ll bake some cookies, heat up a chocolate lava cake, or have a scoop or two of gelato.

05 | Draw a bath.

You can’t have a proper self-care night without dipping into a warm, bubbly, lounge-worthy bath. Use a bath bomb or essential oils to make it smell amazing, light some candles, and just relax.

06 | Put on some music.

Don’t forget to set the tone with a good playlist—may we suggest the soundtrack to Pride and Prejudice? Or perhaps an indie-folk playlist? Pick anything that feels like you.

07 | Do all the skincare.

Skincare can take a lot of effort, but tonight, why not put in the effort? Do all the extra steps of skincare that you normally skip and give yourself the spa treatment.

08 | Paint your nails.

Because why not? Having pretty, painted nails always makes us feel that much more put-together and ready to take on the world.

09 | Cozy up with a book & some tea.

Grab a mug of decaf tea (our favorite is Yorkshire Tea’s Bedtime Brew, which has hints of vanilla and nutmeg), settle into your favorite reading spot, and get lost in your current read for as long as you want—is there really anything better than that?

10 | Go to sleep as early as you want.

You don’t have to stay up until a certain time in order to feel like you used your time well. Go to bed as early (or as late, if you’re a night owl) as you want!
