6 Tips For Embracing Your Inner Elizabeth Bennet
Chances are if you are a regular Wallflower Journal reader, you know and love Elizabeth Bennet as much as anyone. Who doesn’t love her wit? The way she stands up for herself and her family? While we may not all get to marry a man who has 10,000 a year, we can adopt some of Lizzy’s principles and be our own kind of Austen heroine.
Here are six ways you can embrace your inner Elizabeth Bennet.
01 | Always be ready for an adventure.
And wear good walking boots or shoes! Lizzy loved long walks, even if her petticoats would get six inches deep in mud. Long walks will make your eyes appear even finer.
02 | Wear a simple, low-hanging bun.
Don’t forget to add some braids, for extra regency flair.
03 | Be loyal to your family.
Lizzy doesn’t turns her back on her family when they cause her embarrassment or social shame (and even when they cost her a love interest!). And when others like Mr. Darcy or Lady Catherine use their behavior against her, she stands up for them.
04 | Wear neutrals/earth tones.
Wear what you feel comfortable in. Know that your personality is what makes you shine, not your clothes.
05 | Read books and play the piano.
Or pick up another hobby that suits you. Find something you like to do and do it because you like to do it, not just because it’s what everyone else is doing nowadays.
06 | Don’t take life (or yourself) too seriously.
People are quite silly sometimes, and even you are bound to make mistakes. So having a good sense of humor about the chaos of life can help.
