15 Encouraging Scripture Verses That Will Help You Feel Hopeful

We all cognitively know that life will come with battles, storms, and challenges. But when we actually find ourselves in the midst of a difficult season, it can feel as though we’ve been pulled under a strong current, and have no chance of coming back up for air. We feel hopeless — for ourselves, for the future, for our ability to overcome. And we begin to question whether or not God truly cares about our struggles, or if He even sees us.

But we learn from scripture that God does, in fact, see us — that He draws near to the brokenhearted, whether or not we can feel it. God offers us hope and strength, a light at the end of the tunnel and a grounding presence.

If you have been battling hopelessness recently, read on for the most encouraging, empowering, emboldening verses from scripture that will give you the courage to press on.

Matthew 11:28-30

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’”

Psalm 34:17-20

“The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
